Land Acknowledgement

Dust Off The Soul Art Therapy (DOTS) is located by Gojiji-zaaga’igan and Gojiji-ziibi (Rainy Lake and Rainy River), bodies of water that have long provided life-sustaining nourishment to those who inhabit the land. DOTS acknowledges this land to be the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe people of Southern Treaty 3 Territory. We also recognize the historic and ongoing contribution of the Sunset Country Metis. DOTS is committed to the important work of truth and reconciliation and to re-building respectful relationships and partnerships as we move forward together.

DOTS honours and respects Indigenous land-based and healing arts practices that pre-date all Eurocentric theories of art therapy. We express deep gratitude for the teachings received from local Indigenous knowledge keepers. With this we embrace the land itself as a co-facilitator in art therapy and the art making process.

DOTS aims to uphold the preservation and reclamation of Indigenous rights locally, nationally and globally. DOTS remains committed to engaging in cultural humility through reflexive practices to refine and enhance art therapy services being offered.
